In short

Black maca powder 1kg is the bulk format: 200 daily servings of black maca grown above 4,000 meters in Junín and Cerro de Pasco, packed in a resealable bag. It’s the size for people who already use maca every day, and for households where more than one person takes it.

What is bulk black maca powder?

Black maca is the darkest natural variant of Lepidium meyenii and the smallest share of any Andean harvest, usually under 15% of the roots pulled from a field. The bulk format changes nothing about the product; it changes the economics.

At 1 kg the cost per serving falls to its lowest, which matters if you use 5 g every day for a year.

What makes this black maca different

Two named regions and a stated altitude

Junín and Cerro de Pasco, above 4,000 meters. Both are on the central Andean plateau where maca has been grown for centuries, and altitude is the origin fact that tracks most reliably with quality in this crop.

The size for long-term daily use

A kilo is the size for people who already take maca every morning, or for a household that shares it. Bought in 200 g packs, the same 200 servings would mean five separate orders.

Resealable airtight packaging at bulk size

Most bulk powders arrive in a plain sack. An airtight zip closure on a kilo bag is what keeps month six as good as month one.

Taste profile

Deep, roasted and malty with cocoa and caramel depth. It’s the strongest-tasting of the three maca colors, strong enough to define a drink rather than sit behind it.

How to use it

Daily serving

One tablespoon (5 g) a day, mixed into milk, oats, a smoothie or juice, preferably on an empty stomach, the traditional Peruvian habit. It also works in baking. 1 kg gives 200 servings.

Where it comes from

Junín and Cerro de Pasco, central Peruvian Andes, above 4,000 m (13,100 ft). These neighboring regions on the high plateau produce most of Peru’s maca. Roots are harvested by hand, sorted by color, sun-dried in the open air and milled.

Who it’s for

A good fit if you use maca every day, buy for a household, or have used maca long enough to know you like it.

Look elsewhere if you are new to maca: buy 150 g first. A kilo also needs decanting into a working jar to stay in good condition. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or have a thyroid condition, talk to your doctor before taking maca.

Questions

How long does 1 kg of black maca last?

200 days for one person at 5 g a day, about seven months. For two people, about three and a half months.

Is bulk maca worth it?

If you use it daily and like it, yes: the cost per serving drops sharply. If you haven’t settled into a daily habit yet, a 150 g or 200 g pack is the better buy.

How do I keep a kilo of maca fresh?

Decant a two-to-four-week working portion into a small airtight jar and leave the main bag sealed, cool and dark. Use it within about 12 months of opening.

What does black maca taste like?

Deep, roasted and malty, with cocoa and caramel notes. It’s the strongest-tasting of the three maca colors, so it holds its own in coffee, cacao and oats.

Can the whole family use one bag?

Yes. The usual serving is a 5 g tablespoon for adults; in Peru, older children usually have a teaspoon instead. Check with a doctor before giving maca to anyone under 18.

Does black maca contain B vitamins?

The producer lists B-group vitamins, zinc, phosphorus, iron, potassium and calcium, but doesn’t give amounts for all of them. Reference values per 100 g for calcium, iron and potassium are in the nutrition table; a 5 g serving has one twentieth of those amounts.

Can I share a 1 kg bag with someone?

Yes, and it’s the most economical way to buy black maca. Decant into two airtight jars when it arrives.
